The celebration included this fantastic cake, baked by our colleague Denise.
Emma Diffley, Acting Geospatial Services Manager, reflected on the significance of Digimap's journey:
“When we tentatively pressed the return key to make Digimap a live national service on 10 January 2000 I don’t think any of us thought that 24 years hence we would still be looking after a data delivery service, let alone imagined how much it would grow over that time.”
The platform's user-friendly interface and rich datasets have empowered countless users throughout the years, making Digimap an indispensable tool for academics, researchers, and students.
Emma shared her thoughts on Digimap's impact:
“We are delighted that Digimap continues to underpin so much research and teaching across so many disciplines and so many institutions, and hope that we can continue to move Digimap with the times to continue that support framework for the next 24 years.”
As Digimap moves into the new year, our dedication to innovation and excellence stays strong.
Our plans for 2024/25 include adding exciting new data such as the Ordnance Survey’s National Geospatial Database (NGD) suite of products and implementing more (free) webinar dates dedicated to our services, which you can see here.
