This privacy notice provides information about how EDINA, University of Edinburgh, collects and uses your personal information in relation to the Visit East Lothian App ("App").

About you

This privacy notice uses "you" to mean any individual about whom we collect and hold personal data.

What information may we collect about you?

If you choose to use our App, then you may agree to the voluntary and ephemeral use of location information. We will not store or share your location information with anyone other than to provide the in-App functionality to provide nearby information and directions. We collect, store and use the following categories of personal data:

  • we collect your contact details such as name and personal or work e-mail address when you submit an enquiry through the App or App Store

How is your personal data collected?

You give us your personal data through the information collected about you when you email an enquiry or respond to an email relating to that enquiry. We capture this information as it is in EDINA's legitimate interest to process information about you in order to respond to your enquiry.

How will we use the information about you?

The information you provide will be used by EDINA for:

  • processing any enquiries you submit

We will hold the personal data you provided us for one year after your initial enquiry. At the end of that retention period, your data will either be deleted completely or anonymised, for example by aggregation with other data so that it can be used in a non-identifiable way for statistical analysis and business planning.
