ShareGeo Use FAQ
What datasets can I contribute to ShareGeo and what metadata will I need?
A. You can contribute any spatial datasets you have, for anywhere (the only restriction at the moment is that data derived from the UKBORDERS service should not be added as it should be offered to the Census portal directly). There is only a very small amount of mandatory metadata required - and some of that is automatically added for you. If you want to prepare your metadata in advance you can use the spreadsheet. Please include this with your dataset as well. It should only take a few minutes to contribute a dataset.
Why do I keep having to log in?
A. The system will time you out after 20 minutes of inactivity as per the standard Digimap interface.
What if I have problems using or submitting data to ShareGeo?
A. If you have any problems during the submission process or in using ShareGeo please contact us using the links from within ShareGeo or email edina@ed.ac.uk
Why do my search results not appear correct?
A. The search will by default only find items that exactly match you search criteria. Use the * as a wildcard to find additional items e.g. to find all items beginning with geo use geo*
