Service Manager/Digital Education Manager

EDINA, at the University of Edinburgh, enjoys an excellent reputation for delivering innovative online services to UK higher and further education. These are largely provided as part of the 'virtual library' for staff and students made available by Jisc and are in use in over 400 universities and colleges.

You will lead on the strategic development and delivery of digital education activities at EDINA and manage an existing high profile, externally-funded web-based service which supports the provision of multimedia content for learning and research to UK higher and further education. You will be enthusiastic about enhancing and sustaining services to meet the expectations of our users.

An experienced Project or Service Manager you will have managed a variety of successful projects or services preferably in an IT/web application environment.

You should be a graduate, or have relevant experience of multimedia and its use in learning and teaching, preferably with knowledge of the web application environment. Flexibility, initiative, and the ability to manage relationships with external organisations will be considered key qualities. Knowledge of the emerging field of digital scholarship would benefit the role.

You should be a graduate, or have relevant experience, with significant experience of online services preferably with knowledge of business/systems analysis in an IT/web application environment. Flexibility, initiative, and the ability to manage relationships with external organisations will be considered key qualities. Knowledge of library and scholarly communication activity within higher education would benefit the role and is desirable.

Project Administrator (Fixed Term for 2 years)

EDINA national data centre is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and well organised individual to work primarily as Project Administrator for the European Union (EU) funded COBWEB (Citizen Observatory Web) project. EDINA is the coordinator and the post is a key role within the project management office.

You will be responsible for providing day to day administrative support for the project, including monitoring consumption of project resources (costs and time), secretarial support, and liaison with project partners and the EU. You will spend a proportion of time on general administration including finance and HR.

You will have excellent organisational and financial administration skills. As the post involves working with a variety of people in different roles across Europe, good interpersonal and communication skills are required. Previous significant experience of administering large externally-funded projects is essential, preferably projects in receipt of European funding and/or with multiple partners. Experience of working within a technical and/or GIS setting would be an advantage.

This is a full-time, fixed term post for 2 years.

Information Officer (Fixed Term for 2 years)

£31,342 to £37,394

You will assist an innovative IT organisation with its knowledge and information management requirements and have experience of records management, document management or archival management. You will demonstrate strategies for organisational knowledge retention and be able to effectively transfer skills to improve the productivity of others in a support role.

You will be a key actor in a project established by EDINA’s management team to consolidate its information and knowledge assets and establish long-term archives, both electronic and print-based. The newly created post will focus on the requirements of the organisation to support its sustainability and efficiency, including provision of support to staff members in their use of information technologies and strategies to enhance the productivity of the organisation as a whole.

You should have a degree in Information Management or Information & Library Science / Studies or have relevant experience, with significant experience working in a Library, Archive, or an organisation in information/ knowledge/ document management. You will have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to keep up-to-date and adapt/transfer skills to use with the latest Internet and social networking applications and emerging information technologies.

This is a full-time, fixed term post for 2 years.
