EDINA, at the University of Edinburgh, enjoys an excellent reputation for delivering innovative online services to UK higher and further education. A key strategic objective is to improve access to spatial data, via the Internet/Mobile networks, using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related technologies.

We are looking for a software engineer to maintain and develop our online services delivering maps, geospatial data and geographic information to researchers and students across the UK. You'll be tasked with keeping these complex, dynamic services running smoothly as well as contributing to the evolution of existing and new products in a rapidly changing environment. You will be working on the Jisc Digimap service.

You should have a degree in Computer Science or a related discipline alongside significant experience of working in UNIX (Solaris/Linux) environments. You will also have a strong working knowledge of Object Orientated design and Java JavaScript/AJAX development, as well as JSON and XML and good database skills.

We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative and who has good problem solving skills. The ability to work as part of a dynamic team is essential.
